GdB wanted a round, resealable container in which the chocolate sticks fan out after opening, like a bouquet for "ChocOlé" which are coated crispy bread sticks covered with soft melting chocolate of UTZ Quality. Conventional solutions from plaster should be replaced thereby. With the packaging manufacturer Van Genechten GdB found the ideal partner. "We have all been involved from the outset in the development"
"Extremely sustainable"
As a "colorful eye-catcher" on the shelf, the judges of the Pro Carton / ECMA Awards marked the tubular carton, also "extremely sustainable in production, transportation and recycling." The ChocOlé packaging consists of a composite material coated cardboard and a metallized film. It is dense and has the necessary barrier properties in order to optimally maintain the quality of the product during transport and storage. While there are already similar tube packaging made of cardboard, but plastic caps were mostly used it previously. Not so with ChocOlé: Here the cap is made of cardboard, so that the bag is actually made of a single material and can be recycled after use as well. The cylindrical carton is delivered flat and filled only by GdB and sealed - a unique solution that provides in logistics resource conservation and cost savings. "We are very excited about the award," said Peter Gries, spokesman of GdB. "As a family, we place great importance on sustainability and take our responsibilities very seriously."
