South Wales-based manufacturer of baking cases Chevler has bought greaseproof paper printer Lovely Packaging for an undisclosed sum.
Cardiff-based business Lovely Packaging was set up last year as a subsidiary of printer Hartley Wilprint. It supplies greaseproof paper for packaging of items such as food, footwear and beauty products.
Chevler managing director Stuart Whelan said: “This is an exciting move for us. Combining the new business with Chevler’s customer base will allow us to substantially grow our greaseproof range of products and offer the market something genuinely new and highly appealing.”
He added that the quality of print surpasses anything “we have seen on greaseproof paper before”.
Whelan stressed that Chevler planned to maintain the staff and existing production facilities at Lovely Packaging’s base at Cardiff Bay Business Centre.
Contract wins
Chevler was created by a management buy-out in early 2009. The firm said that it has increased its sales, since then, and has been awarded a number of contract wins in the UK, Europe and North America.
The company can now produce more than a billion baking cases a year in some 600 shapes.
