08/12/06 BERICAP will present at EMBALLAGE 2006 exhibition in Paris – Villepinte (hall 6, booth E102) its latest developments in plastic closures targeted at security and comfort to consumers, at hygiene and food safety and at raw material savings.
The BERICAP’s attraction remains its THUMB’UP, 2-piece hinged sports cap, first closure of its category to offer children safety (toy safety standard EN71-1 : 1998) and to be perfectly adapted to aseptic filling, due to its tightness against ingress of micro-organisms and to its capability to be on line decontaminated by chemical liquids or gases: it has been selected by numerous world actors of the beverage industry (still water, energy drinks) and especially by the NESTLE WATERS Group for its leading brands in North America, Europe and Middle East.
BERICAP pursues its development of its one-piece screw caps featured with its patented DoubleSeal technology that outperform on all sealing parameters the traditionnal two-piece closures that were traditionally used for carbonated beverages (in 28 mm) and for juices and energy drinks (in 38 mm, 2-start or 3 start) : the tightness created by the inner olive seal and the outer lip squeezed on pressure block is a security against loss of carbonation for CSD, especially for those distributed in countries with extreme temperatures; but also for still beverages sensitive to micro-organisms contaminations due to its secure tightness independent from the application torque and to its antisabotage performances that two-piece closures cannot match by construction.
BERICAP will present also its range of DoubleSeal 28 and 38 mm O2S closures with in-shell moulded oxygen scavenger: this unique technology allows increase of shelf life and of gustatory and nutritional properties of those beverages that are sensitive to oxygen. Those O2S closures available in 28 mm and 38 mm, 2-start and 3-start have oxygen scavenging capabilities ranging from 3 mg to 8 mg of oxygen. They have been elected by many international companies for beer in PET bottles, but also for several premium juices and energy drinks
GALILEO is the name of a new range of snap closures with hinge moulded in close position that combine the comfort for consumers of an easy and 180° hinge opening and for packers significant savings on raw materials of up to 50%, from lighter bottle necks and lighter closures.
It exists in one-piece version in 28 to 38 mm diameter (GALILEO I) for beverages and dairy products, in replacement of screw closures of similar diameters, and it is particularly well adapted to aseptic filling as it withstand 2.5 bar pressure, 0.5 bar vacuum, can be easily wet decontaminated and easily applied by simple and robust cappers.
GALILEO also exists in two-piece version (GALILEO II) with tear off membrane pourer and transparent hinged overcap, on lighter 26/21 neck finish replacing traditional 29/21 VERPLAST neck finish, particularly well adapted to edible oils and sauces. A special version for vinegar currently launch in Brazil will be shown at EMBALLAGE 2006.

Those closures for PET are designed to be snapped on standard screw neck finishes according to a BERICAP patented technology, either 28 or 38 mm neck finishes that are available in large quantities at preform manufacturers their equivalent in snap neck finishes hardly exist.
