The latest exciting development at Rexam Petainer is the new 1,0 litre hot fill (80oC) refillable PEN bottle for fruit juice developed with Beckers Bester, Germany. The bottle is a handy alternative to glass: it is washable at the same temperature as glass, is unbreakable and lightweight, all positive developments for the consumer. Furthermore PEN bottles can be kept at ambient temperature without the need for supermarket chilling or affecting the shelf-life of the product. Dr Gerhard Kersting, Managing Director of Beckers Bester, commented: “We have been working on this project for some time and this is an example of real innovation from Rexam. The PEN bottle complements existing glass bottles, but with its numerous advantages we hope the PEN bottle will attract new consumers”.
