CCL Container Plus Betty Crocker are the icing on the cake

CCL Container recently teamed up with Signature Brands and produced a hard-working, picture-perfect aluminum container for Signature's newest cake decorating product line-Betty Crocker Easy Color Decorating Spray®. Available in grocery chains nationwide, Easy Color Decorating Spray is an innovative product that produces an airbrushed effect, so almost anyone can achieve a professional-looking decorative finish on made-at-home confections.

According to Mindy Green, Signature Brands' cake spray brand manager, "Customers can use stencils or come up with their own free-hand designs. Whatever approach they choose, home bakers can now easily and quickly achieve a very sophisticated result." To achieve the look, Easy Color has to be applied uniformly. "After reviewing all the options, we concluded that aerosol technology was the best way to guarantee smooth and controlled dispensing," Green explains. Signature Brands opted for CCL's aluminum container.

Ed Martin, CCL's vice president, sales and marketing, explains, "Besides the fact that there is a wider variety of diameter and height choices with aluminum, consumers are generally quite comfortable with aluminum packaging for food products. CCL's aluminum container features a food-grade internal lining that ensures product purity. So, for its range of sizes, decorating options, and guarantee of high performance, aluminum was a natural choice for this product."

Easy Color is available in five different decorating hues-red, blue, green, white and yellow-and comes in 45mm x 115mm, white-coated aluminum, oval shoulder cans. Rather than applying graphics directly to the cans, varieties are identified by corresponding color sleeves that slip over the cans, a packaging decision made to enhance inventory flexibility. Both can and sleeve designs are consistent with packaging for the Betty Crocker Easy Flow Decorating Icing line, which debuted in 1998. Comments Martin, "We're excited to be working with Signature Brands. The Easy Color Decorating Spray products made their debut in late February and the response has been positive. "Sales are going extremely well, and we're getting a lot of calls from consumers telling us how much they like the product," Green remarked. For over 50 years, Ocala, Florida-based Signature Brands has been a leader and innovator in the dessert and Easter egg decorating business. The company markets its products under some of America's most popular brands, including Betty Crocker, Cake Mate and Paas.
