Diamond Foods Launches Emerald Smoked Almonds

08/09/06 Diamond Foods, Inc. has added Smoked Almonds to its Emerald line of premium snacks. This brings to 20 the number of products in the Emerald snack lineup.
"Emerald Smoked Almonds are selected for their size and quality, then smoked to perfection the old-fashioned way. The smoked flavor is cooked in; it's not just dusted on," said Andrew Burke, vice president of marketing for Diamond Foods. "Emerald Smoked Almonds deliver a distinctively delicious taste and crunch, and they are also nutrient-dense fuel foods." Loaded with heart- healthy unsaturated fat, almonds are also rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, fiber, magnesium, calcium and a host of other nutrients.
To appeal to today's active lifestyles, Emerald Smoked Almonds are packaged in handy on-the-go plastic canisters that fit in auto cup holders. Stay-fresh twist-on lids lock in freshness and flavor. Emerald Smoked Almonds are also available in 2.25-oz. pouches that are being marketed specifically to the nation's convenience stores. The suggested retail price is $5.99 for the 11-oz canister and $1.79 for the 2.25-oz. pegboard bags.
"Like all our other Diamond and Emerald brand products, Emerald Smoked Almonds are a trans fat-free food," said Burke. "They provide irresistible taste and nutritious, guilt-free snacking anytime, anyplace." Emerald snack nuts were introduced nationwide in August 2004. In two years, the line has grown from 14 to 20 products, including traditional lightly seasoned snack nuts in handy on-the-go canisters, unique sweet and savory glazed nuts and nut combinations, and three new Emerald trail mix blends. Emerald products are available nationwide at more than 60,000 retail locations, including grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores, club stores and mass merchandise outlets.
