Key takeaways
- Medicos has developed a hybrid dropper and roll-on system for La Roche-Posay’s Hyalu B5 eye serum.
- The 15 mL bottle integrates a PP roll-on pipette, stainless steel ball, nitrile bulb, recyclable glass, and plastic components.
- The company plans to replace the nitrile bulb with a recyclable TPE version.

Medicos has supplied La Roche-Posay with a bottle and dropper for the skin care brand’s Hyalu B5 anti-wrinkle eye serum, for precise dosing and targeted application. The 15 mL bottle features a polypropylene (PP) roll-on pipette with a stainless steel ball, a nitrile bulb, a PP collar, and a protective cap.
“The originality of the system lies in the functional combination of the dropper’s precise dosing gesture with the roll-on’s targeted application, specifically adapted to the eye contour area,” says the company.
“From an industrial standpoint, Medicos successfully addressed the challenge of fully automated assembly of the stainless-steel ball and the dropper system, ensuring reliability, repeatability, and production performance.”
The PP, stainless-steel, glass components, and dropper system are recyclable. Medicos explains that the bulb, which is currently made of nitrile, will be replaced with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) version that is recyclable within the PP stream.
Combining techniques
According to Medicos, the solution combines two techniques: droppers and roll-on solutions for targeted skin care applications, established from an established in-house range.
The roll-on range is based on a glass or stainless-steel ball, a PP or recycled PP (rPP) cap with a tubular glass bottle. Medicos says that flow reducers can be added depending on the personal care application.
The dropper range includes a glass or PP pipette, fitted with a nitrile, butyl, or TPE teat, and a smooth or ribbed PP or rPP cap.
Customized solutions
Medicos highlights that different pipette shapes can allow precise adaptation to cosmetic and dermocosmetic applications. Moreover, the droppers can be combined with tubular glass, molded glass, or plastic bottles.
Medicos explains that tamper-event rings and PP pipette protectors can be added to the personal care packaging solution due to the wide range of diameters, lengths, and capacities.
Additionally, caps and housing balls can be mass-dyed, while finishing techniques such as lacquering, metalization, aluminum sleeving, hot stamping, or engraving can be used for brand customization.
Recently, Medicos equipped skin care company Uriage with a refillable polyethylene terephthalate jar, a glass dropper bottle, and a polyethylene tube with a cannula-based system to support its latest product expansion.
