The BRC/IOP Food Standard is the Technical Standard for Food Packaging Manufacturers, developed jointly by the British Retail Consortium and the Institute of Packaging. It sets out certain hygiene and quality requirements for packaging manufacturers supplying the food industry and is increasingly regarded as a necessary qualification, especially as the retail industry itself was closely involved in developing the standards.
