GPI To Showcase High-End Trends At Packaging International
Developments in printing techniques, inks and varnishes, material textures and structural design, mean that almost anything is possible when it comes to high-end packaging. The samples being showcased at the exhibition, produced at GPI’s state of the art Global Innovation Centre, will give luxury product designers an unbeatably realistic representation of what can be achieved. Chris Tart, Innovation Manager at Graphic Packaging International explains, “We have been looking at design trends for 2016, and working with our print experts to develop an astonishing range of techniques that reflect what will be happening in food, drinks, fashion, gifts, and beauty packaging over the coming year.

“We’ve identified the key trends and have developed techniques that replicate materials as diverse as metal, wood and fabrics, not only in a visual sense but also to the touch, with ingenious use of varnish, foils and embossing. Our Verso TM and Panoramic TM techniques mean that we can produce hybrid packaging – contrasting effects on either side of the board with 360 degree windows– which is already proving popular with our customers in luxury goods markets.” Investment in new equipment means that GPI has also been able to broaden its horizons when it comes to packaging construction. Geometric and angular shapes, hidden features and enhanced 3D effects are featuring in packaging trend forecasts for 2016, examples of which will be on show on the GPI Stand.
