Guala Closures has taken ownership of Vinventions’ screwcap production business in Rosarito, Mexico. The move aims to expand Guala Closures’ manufacturing footprint in North America and strengthen its supply capabilities for the US market.
“This investment marks a significant milestone in advancing our growth strategy for the North American wine closures market,” says Andrea Lodetti, CEO at Guala Closures.
“Establishing a dedicated production site in Mexico, which adds to our existing large plant in San José Iturbide, allows us to be closer to our US customers and respond more effectively to their needs — particularly those of the small and medium-sized winemakers that require a more tailored, local, and flexible supply base,” he adds.

“With this transaction, we are also laying the groundwork for further expansions and future growth as we expect demand to continue to increase.”
Vinventions established the Rosarito plant in 2024. It is focused on producing 30x60 aluminium closures, with a total annual capacity exceeding 200 million units. Guala Closures says it sees a potential for further expansion.
Growing US demand
Guala Closures says that its choice of location responds to a growing demand from US wine and spirits industry customers. With Rosarito’s plant, the company aims to shorten lead times and enhance customer service with favorable transportation and trade conditions.
The global beverage screwcaps producer headquartered in Italy has been present in Mexico since 1979.
The new transaction is said to align with the company’s broader strategy of targeted acquisitions to reinforce its leadership in high-value beverage closure segments and key geographic markets.
Recently, Guala Closures began providing premium Digital Printing technology for beverage closures, targeting small winemakers and boutique wineries.
