Handy Capsule inspires fashionable convenience for on-the-go sanitation
23 Apr 2020 --- The coronavirus pandemic has inspired the invention of an on-the-go, fashionable yet compact sanitation kit. Emulating the conventional makeup bag, the aluminum-based handbag-type kit called the Handy Capsule is premolded to make space for a disposable mask, hand sanitizer, temperature stickers and alcohol wipes – four of the main health and sanitation supplies in increased demand. The Handy Capsule aims not only to foster positive sanitary safety habits during the ongoing pandemic, but also fortify them for sustained hygiene-conscious behavior in the future.
The kit is 12.5 cm x 9 cm x 2.5 cm, making for an easily portable and functional carry-on. The four pouches also allow for regular role changes of the four essential supplies. Its magnetic clasp enables ease of opening and closure while ensuring its contents do not spill out. Meanwhile, the side loop attachment also makes for a quick grab and sling around the handle of a backpack.
The kit aims to foster positive hygiene and sanitation habits.The Handy Capsule was born from the idea that its modern and sleek design will help fundamental sanitation products receive the widespread attention they need to encourage better public health habits. “When medical supplies become more fashionable and beautiful as daily necessities, the language of delivery will be more relatable,” says Kiran Zhu, Handy Capsule designer and Founder of Shanghai-based design brand Ziinlife.
Zhu highlights that public health products can bear a negative connotation as they are often presented as warding off undesired health risks. This new format, however, lightens the serious perception of sanitation products.
“Through this product, we hope to establish a new language for communication with the public, which is gentle and easy to understand. It’s very important to find the daily ‘connection point’ with the public. People will be willing to pay for them and they can use them spontaneously and voluntarily. We wish to turn a good public health habit into a trend,” Zhu maintains.
