Hinojosa boosts packaging solutions presence in Southern Europe with shares acquisition
10 Jul 2023 --- Hinojosa Packaging Group has closed a 49% shareholding agreement with ASV Packaging, a French F&B packaging design and production provider. The Spain-based packaging company plans to expand its business development in the Spanish and French markets by acquiring shares.
It aims to offer French customers expanded packaging solutions and printing technologies for agriculture, agri-food and recurring consumer products and e-commerce.
The solutions range from individual boxes, fresh food trays and tubs to larger packaging and promotional displays.
Moreover, Hinojosa and ASV Packaging share exclusive rights for the production and sale of Halopack trays in the Iberian Peninsula and France. The companies say they are committed to working together to develop an environmentally sustainable packaging alternative to plastic for fresh products packaged in modified atmosphere packaging and vacuum skin packaging.
“At Hinojosa, we have always been committed to integrating dynamic and competitive organizations. This is the model that has allowed us to grow and expand in Spain and on an international scale. With the acquisition of ASV Packaging, we will have the opportunity to expand our offering of [environmentally] sustainable packaging solutions in the French market,” says Rubén Martínez Hinojosa, president of Hinojosa Packaging Group.
Hinojosa says the acquisition of the shares is an “important and exciting” milestone. “We look forward to working alongside 210 employees at ASV Packaging, so we can continue to add value for our customers.”
The operation will strengthen the company’s position in Southern Europe as a “leading” manufacturer of environmentally sustainable packaging solutions. Hinojosa says that in each region, it ensures “maximum” adaptation to the requirements of diverse audiences and focuses on its customers, employees, suppliers and communities in which it operates.
“Hinojosa’s interest in ASV Packaging and their subsequent investment in our business comes as a recognition of the work carried out in the last five years with our management team and all our employees to build an alternative offering to that of integrated global groups for our customers,” says president of ASV Packaging, Philippe Desveronnières.
“The capacity of the Hinojosa group and important synergies will enable us to strengthen and accelerate our development.”
Hinojosa’s recyclable packs
Meanwhile, Hinojosa has launched its paper-based and recyclable primary packaging line Foodservice, designed for hot and cold beverages and fourth- and fifth-range prepared foods. Hinojosa said it strengthened its commitment to reducing single-use plastics by entering into the foodservice sector, one of the industries with the highest demand for more environmentally sustainable materials.
Last year, Hinojosa became the first in the packaging industry to get Aenor accreditation. The distinction honored the company’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The company told Packaging Insights that “to achieve this certification, Hinojosa analyzed from the supply base and inbound logistics, throughout production, distribution, use and end-of-life of the products, to determine the SDGs that impact each stage of its value chain.”
