Founder Laura Lambert says "our ultimate dream would be to package our rosehip seed oil in thick paper made from rose hips themselves, but we haven't yet found a good vendor!" "There are a lot of different option when it comes to packaging that has a much lighter footprint than the standard plastics," reports Lambert, founder and CEO of Inflora Botanica. "We are trying all of the options."The advent of eco packaging was part of the LOHAS (Lifestyles Of Health And Systainability) movement which reports an estimated $290 billion U.S. marketplace for goods and services focused on health, the environment, social justice, personal development and sustainable living. Their website says "Approximately 13-19% percent of the adults in the U.S. are currently considered LOHAS Consumers."

Lambert says "it's a natural progression for us. In fact, it was our goal to start out this way but working within Amazon requirements, we couldn't do what we wanted. But we are finding a way to make it work very well. We're testing cardboards and fibers that are both biodegradable and give us the protection we need for the glass bottles and the organic rosehip oil within. It's in line with our values as a company and in line with our customers' values." Lambert reported an interest in cutting edge eco packaging technologies for example that which was developed by Ecovative Design- growing a mushroom in a mold that will create the box shape you need to protect your product. "This kind of technology thrills us. We can't wait until it's more widely available and easy to order by a small company like Inflora Botanica," says Lambert.
