Larger bakery lines possible with new Dutch site
Bakery equipment manufacturer Capway Systems has opened a €9.5m factory in the Netherlands that it says will allow it to produce some of the largest equipment on the market.
Bakery equipment manufacturer Capway Systems has opened a €9.5m factory in the Netherlands that it says will allow it to produce some of the largest equipment on the market.
Super-sized
Robert Kelly, Capway director of operations UK, said that bigger dough processing machines, conveyer systems and other equipment could be manufactured at the new site in Houten, allowing the company to respond to bakeries’ demands for larger outputs.
“This facility ensures that we are perfectly set up to meet the challenges of complex and large scale projects as well as being able to meet the high specification needs of individual projects whatever their size,” he said.
He added that the facility features one large manufacturing hall, which would not necessarily increase volumes but reduce costs and boost efficiency for the company,
Features
The factory includes over 9,000m2 of production halls and 11,000m2 of office and design space.
It is temperature controlled and has been fitted with 10 remote controlled cranes in the factory halls to allow Capway to move the larger equipment around the factory. Equipment up to 11m in height can now be constructed on site.
Site closure
The factory has electricity, air and gas lines throughout the factory, allowing engineers to carry out welding at any point in the assembly and production process.
Following the move, the company closed its previous bakery equipment plant that was located 20km from the new site.
“It didn't lend itself to straight line manufacturing,” said Kelly.
The company has moved its entire workforce to the new site and would take on some additional staff Capway has a separate site in the Netherlands that produces bread trays and tins as well as a bakery equipment facility in Pennsylvania, USA.
