Medline unveils automated Pick Pack Pro to scale healthcare fulfillment

Medline has launched the Pick Pack Pro fulfillment system at its distribution center in Montgomery, US. The advanced automation investment aims to support its health plan customers, including providers that administer Medicare benefits. 

Medline designed Pick Pack Pro to assist orders that are pulled from a small range of products at high order volumes.

Pick Pack Pro integrates enhanced order batching, robotic sortation, and automated packing and shipping to overcome the challenge of maintaining delivery times and order accuracy inherent in supporting health plans and their members.

Customer-focused solution

The Montgomery installation was engineered with three vendors and represents the first capital and staffing investment in this technology from Medline.

Sean Halligan, executive vice president for operations at Medline, says: “Pick Pack Pro utilizes Tompkins Robotics to sort and route order items, Trew for integrated movement and sortation of order cartons throughout the system, and Ranpak’s sustainable automated packing solutions for right-size packaging and shipping.”

Earlier this year, Medline expanded its partnership with Ranpak, integrating Cut’it! EVO and Form’it! systems into a high-volume distribution center.

Medline is set to expand the deployment of Pick Pack Pro across its network of 45 distribution centers in the US.
