23/12/06 Pactiv Corporation, maker of Hefty brand products, announced today it is offering 1.2 million additional Hefty OneZip one-quart slider bags free to airports across the United States in an effort to help keep holiday travelers moving through airport security checkpoints – bringing the total number of quart-size bags shipped to airports to more than two million since the holiday travel season began last month. The Hefty OneZip quart-size slider bags will be offered free to passengers who need them to comply with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 3-1-1 carry-on guidelines for air travel. The 3-1-1 initiative allows liquid or gel toiletries, three ounces or less in volume (3), to be stored comfortably inside a one-quart size, clear plastic, zip-top bag (1), and one bag per passenger (1).

“Travelers and airport/TSA personnel have told us that having Hefty OneZip quart-size bags available at airports ‘made a world of difference’ during the Thanksgiving holiday rush because it helped unprepared passengers meet security requirements and kept them moving smoothly through security checkpoints,” said John Schwab, senior vice president & general manager, Hefty Consumer Products. “We are shipping more than one million more Hefty OneZip quart-size bags to again help airport officials with holiday travelers who may need to repackage their carry-on toiletry items to pass through security. Our goal is to help ease the stresses of holiday travel and ‘make a difference’ during the holiday season.”

According to Schwab, Hefty OneZip quart-size slider storage bags are currently being shipped to airports across the country that have requested them for on-site distribution. Many shipments will re-supply airports that participated in Pactiv’s Hefty OneZip free bag program during the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period. Bags are expected to arrive at most airports by the end of this week. Distribution to airports will continue through the holiday season while supplies last.
