The Danish Brewery Group is launching their first one-way multilayer PET beer bottle, produced by Rexam at their plant in Lidköping, Sweden. The bottles are to be used for Faxe Premium Lager, and are destined for the German market, where Faxe is the leading brand of imported beer. The one-way (recyclable) bottles are of a multilayer construction incorporating a carbon dioxide barrier and an oxygen scavenger to prolong the shelf life of the product. Contrary to existing plastic bottles already on the market, the new bottle is without a petaloid base and employs a Crown Cork closure solution. The bottle has a shelf life of 6 months and it is believed the new lightweight format will prove popular with consumers. The multi-layer bottle is the second plastic beer bottle solution launched by the Danish Brewery Group this year, both of which are manufactured by Rexam. Rexam specializes in developing unique and bespoke plastic beverage packaging solutions for beer, juice and carbonated soft drinks. Rexam is the only commercial manufacturer of refillable PEN juice and beer bottles sold to leading brands worldwide.
