Nampak Plastics Unveils New Site in Foston, South Derbyshire, UK
Nampak Plastics, the UK’s leading producer of plastic milk bottles, opened its new fully operational plant at its Dove Valley Industrial Park in Foston, South Derbyshire. Mark Allen, CEO of Dairy Crest and Eric Collins, MD of Nampak Plastics unveiled a plaque to celebrate the venture, which will create new jobs at the plant.
24 Jul 2013 --- The multi million pound investment has been three years in the making and has enabled all bottling machines to feed directly into the dairy, making the Dairy Crest site efficient. The machines have also been converted into 2 litre and 4 pint Infini bottles - Nampak’s multi-award-winning lightweight bottle.
The combined Foston site currently employs circa 165 people. The new developments will provide extra demand that will see the company increase its workforce by a third.
Carl Jones, Site Manager says: “Being an in-plant bottle manufacturer provides a lot of environmental benefits, such as reducing the cost of transporting empty bottles to dairies for filling. These changes mean we can really make the most of that facility and we’re delighted that it will also enable us to create more jobs in Foston.”
Mark Allen, Chief Executive of Dairy Crest said: “We are pleased that Nampak has completed this project. We aim to have the most efficient dairies in the UK and this is another step towards that goal.”
Nampak Plastics recently achieved yet another global first and has trialled, tested and supplied the world’s first four-pint milk bottle containing up to 30% recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE).
