Nestle, Tetra Pak deploy recycling vending machines in Malaysian schools

Nestle (Malaysia), an operating unit of Switzerland-based health and wellness company Nestle, and Tetra Pak (Malaysia) have installed recycling vending machines in 20 schools in the Klang Valley to develop the habit of recycling among students.

The initiative is expected to reach out to around 43,000 students.
Nestle Liquid Drinks brand manager Teo Heng Keat said that the company believes that education on environmental sustainability should start at a young age.
All the students will be given a swipe card to use in the vending machines and they can earn points for each beverage can they will recycle and in turn will get sponsored gifts with the accumulated points by both the companies.
Tetra Pak communications and environment director Terrynz Tan said that this initiative provides another opportunity for the company to build awareness on the lifecycle of a beverage carton.
