New adapter for Fresenius Kabi’s enteral aggregates

Unintentional wiring problems with enteral connections to intravenous lines can lead to serious injury and is a real risk to patient safety. To meet the healthcare needs of secure systems, a new enteral security, ENLock, has been developed to avoid accidental wiring problems with the intravenous system (Luer).

Unintentional wiring problems with enteral connections to intravenous lines can lead to serious injury and is a real risk to patient safety. To meet the healthcare needs of secure systems, a new enteral security, ENLock, has been developed to avoid accidental wiring problems with the intravenous system (Luer). ENLock has evolved over the technical management of Fresenius Kabi and in collaboration with Nestlé Health Science and Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition.

ENLock connections are specific to enteral nutrition and is completely incompatible with the intravenous "Luer" system. This increases patient safety through the entire continuum of care. The links are an industry-developed standard for enteral connections. Fresenius Kabi are proud to announce the launch of ENLock system in 2012.
 
Preparations started in January 2012 with the launch of the removable ENLock adapter that replaces the current adapter to all Fresenius Kabis enteral aggregate.

ENLock system includes a male connector on the aggregates and a female connector on nutrition probes, such as Freke nasogastric tubes. ENLock-syringe and the new medication ports will disable links to and from intravenous lines.
 
From September 2012 the entire ENLock system will be launched, consisting of a non-removable ENLock adapter on Fresenius Kabi’s enteral aggregate, ENLock couplings on our transnasals and percutaneous probes, ENLock syringes.
