Merrydown Medium, which picked up the ultimate accolade of the Trophy Medal for being the world’s best tasting cider, will be proudly displaying the 2010 ICC Gold Medal Award for winning the judges’ votes as the top cider in the Medium Cider category. And Merrydown Dry bottles and cases will feature the Bronze Medal it achieved in the Dry Cider Category.
Chris Carr, Merrydown Cider’s Managing Director, says: “Merrydown excelled during blind taste tests to scoop the trio of awards at the prestigious International Cider Challenge.
“The ICC attracted over 100 entries from around the globe including France, Belgium and the Czech Republic so it’s a fantastic achievement and endorsement for Merrydown.
“We’ve always been very proud of the distinctive appley taste which sets Merrydown apart from other ciders and are delighted that it is this quality which has impressed the judges. It also provides yet another reason why Merrydown Cider is a ‘must stock’ brand for retailers. As well as being the No 2 heritage cider brand in the take home sector1, in stores where Merrydown is stocked it has the highest ROS of all of the glass bottle cider brands in the impulse channel2, and it has an extremely loyal consumer base.”
Merrydown’s ICC medal awards are also being highlighted on the brand’s website which has an expanded section devoted to Merrydown & Food to provide inspirational serving suggestions for seasonal recipes that go well with cider and/or use cider as an ingredient.
