Orion helps ReadyGlaze to revolutionise catering

02/02/06 The durability and convenience of RPC Containers Corby’s Orion bottle have made it the ideal packaging format for Barker & Davis Food Limited’s (B&DFL) revolutionary range of decorative glazes, ReadyGlaze.

ReadyGlaze is designed to fill a gap in the market for ready-to-use decorative glazes. Widely used in the foodservice industry to enhance the aesthetic appeal of meals, glazes are traditionally made in the kitchens but, given their decorative function, taste can sometimes be a secondary consideration.
The new ReadyGlaze range rectifies this by providing chefs with great-tasting, easy-to-use glazes. The seven products in the range offer a combination of flavours and colours.
"Choosing the right packaging format is crucial," explains John Davis, Managing Director of B&DFL. "Having already used RPC Corby’s Sapphire jar for our restaurant-ready salsas and chutneys, we asked RPC to suggest a suitable format."
The Orion top-down bottle meets B&DFL’s brief for a container that is easy for chefs to use but which can withstand the products’ filling and shelf-life requirements. Orion’s rigidity enables hot-filling without panelling, and offers a one year shelf-life at ambient storage before use, and up to four weeks in the chiller once opened.
Convenience is assured thanks to the bottle’s clever combination of flip-top cap (supplied by RPC Halstead) and pouring nozzle. When ready to use, the chef opens the cap and fits the nozzle; when finished, the cap can be replaced or the nozzle left in place.
B&DFL trialled product and packaging to great success - the chefs involved demanded continued use of ReadyGlaze! Since the launch of the range in October 2005, this success has been maintained with supply agreements to a number of leading hotel chains and foodservice distributors.
