Top Tuscan winery Piccini is celebrating 130 years of classic Chianti production in 2012, and will mark the occasion with specially-produced commemorative stickers on two of its flagship wines in the UK market.
The limited edition stickers will appear on the Piccini Orange Label Chianti DOCG (RRP £6.99) and recently released Memoro Vino d’Italia NV (RRP £9.49) which are both available in the UK Off-Trade.
“Our family motto is ‘Everything we do in the present is both for the past and for the future’, and we’ve selected the two wines that best reflect this,” explains Mario Piccini. “Our Orange Label is our oldest wine, while Memoro is a completely modern blend of classic Italian wines from the four corners of the country using the recent Vino d’Italia classification. The two faces of Piccini!”
Piccini launched its first Chianti in 1882 after Angiolo Piccini, founder of the company, purchased a seven hectare vineyard near Poggibonsi. The company is today one of the most important players in the Tuscan wine business and run by his great great grandchildren – brother and sister team Mario and Martina Piccini.
