The Automated Prescription Packaging System (APPS) replaces manual packing stations and can average up to 10,000 orders/shift. The system, created with the mail-order prescription industry in mind, offers 100 percent verification via bar code, just before prescription documents are packaged. It's capable of handling prescription packages of various sizes, in bottles and boxes. The APPS prints and matches the medical/order information documents with the item and completely packages the prescription in real time. First, the unit scans the label on the box or bottle, and prints the corresponding prescription and order information documents. Then, the prescription and documents are verified and packaged.
