ProAmpac develops Quadflex Recyclable flat bottom pouch for durability and shelf presence
24 Sep 2021 --- ProAmpac is announcing an addition to its ProActive Sustainability platform, the Quadflex Recyclable. The format utilizes the flexible packaging and material science company’s R-2000 recyclable laminated mono-polyethylene product, offering a more readily recyclable alternative to multi-material laminates.
Quadflex Recyclable is available in either a side gusseted with flat or pinched bottom stand-up pouch.
“Combining recyclability, durability and excellent shelf presence with an easy opening and reclosable option, Quadflex Recyclable combines all the features of our hugely successful Quadflex format with the best of our ProActive Recyclable film structures,” notes Adam Grose, chief commercial officer at ProAmpac.
“ProAmpac continues to innovate as brands and consumers demand more sustainable packaging. Quadflex Recyclable delivers a recyclable option that runs on our customers’ production lines at rate, meaning they do not sacrifice productivity when moving to a sustainable specification.”
Superior heat resistance
Quadflex Recyclable boasts superior heat resistance for run-at-rate filling speeds and a wide operating window on filling lines.
Film structures come in standard or high barrier and can be made with clear windows in the main panels or the side gussets to showcase the product.
ProAmpac offers matte or gloss surface finishes, enabling brands to connect with consumers in style on the pouch’s five-panel billboard. Reclose is enabled by recyclable press-to-close or hook-to-hook Aplix or Velcro zippers.
“This recyclable quad-seal pouch was designed to be a drop-in replacement versus existing, conventional structures,” explains Hesam Tabatabaei, vice president of product development and innovation at ProAmpac.
“Our Quadflex Recyclable structure is engineered to deliver very high drop resistance and dimpling resistance, which are both needed for this packaging format.”
“In addition, using our unique patent-pending scoring technology, our customers get a product with excellent directional tear.”
Human and pet food suitability
Quadflex Recyclable is currently available in both terminated side gusset and full side gusset configurations. The premium pouch is suitable for pet food and treats, human food, and homecare products.
The product is pre-qualified for in-store drop-off through polyethylene recycle streams.
“We invite attendees of Petfood Forum 2021 to visit the ProAmpac (booth 534) to see Quadflex Recyclable in person for the first time. We will also have samples on hand at this year’s PackExpo (booth SL-6135),” adds Ben Davis, product manager at ProAmpac.
ProAmpac rollouts
In other flexible packaging R&D, ProAmpac recently launched a patent-pending addition to its ProActive Recyclable series of polyethylene-based structures. The R-2000D is designed as a drop-in replacement for conventional multi-material laminates, while its unique performance characteristics allow it to run at high speeds on form/fill/seal equipment.
This week, ProAmpac (formerly RAP) debuted its RecycAll Freshpack all-fiber sandwich skillet with a window today at Lunch! 2021 (September 23-24), at the Exhibition Centre London, UK.
