Proseal builds new facility to meet surge in heat sealing machine demand
Proseal has invested in a new UK manufacturing facility to increase production of its heat sealing equipment for the food industry, having achieved a 50 per cent increase in sales last year.
Proseal has invested in a new UK manufacturing facility to increase production of its heat sealing equipment for the food industry, having achieved a 50 per cent increase in sales last year.
The £1.5m investment has funded the creation of a new 18,000 sq. ft unit at its production site in Adlington, Cheshire, almost doubling the size of the plant.
Proseal made the investment to meet growing demand from the food industry for its heat sealing machinery.
Growth areas
Rob Hargreaves, director, Proseal said which sectors of the industry have been fueling the booming sales. “We have seen a considerable growth in sales in the soft fruit market as well as prepared fruit and salads. We are also experiencing an increasing demand for machinery in the fresh meat and wet fish sector.”
In addition to providing extra production capacity, expanding the Adlington factory has enabled Proseal to establish separate areas for manufacturing and assembly.
Hargreaves said: “These dedicated zones mean we are able to prevent cross contamination from debris such as metal swarf produced during operations. We now treat the assembly area as a clean room.”
Expansion overseas
In addition to the UK site Proseal has sales offices and manufacturing facilities in the US and Australia. Hargreaves said the company is planning to expand its operations in the US.
Proseal was founded in 1998 by Hargreaves and fellow director Steve Malone. The company manufactures a range of manual, semi-automatic and fully-automatic heat-sealing machinery with throughputs from 15 to 180 packs per minute.
