Robbie expands fresh-cut packaging

The line of stock produce pouches, which hold fresh-cut fruits or vegetables in modified atmosphere packaging, are now available for cantaloupe, watermelon, mango, bell peppers and chopped onions, said Penny Sweeney, communications manager for Robbie.
The pouch sizes range from 8 ounces to 24 ounces. It features a handle, resealable zipper, graphics, window to display product and bottom gusset, which keeps the produce upright.
Sweeney said the package is designed with private label in mind.
The product first gained recognition for its pineapple pack, in collaboration with Del Monte Fresh Produce, Coral Gables, Fla., which was honored in October at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit as an Impact Award winner for product innovation.
Sweeney said the packaging improves on the traditional rigid plastic packaging, in that this one allows fresh-cut produce to breathe better and retain its taste longer.
