Sainsbury's pod packs

Sainsbury's new "Fresh to Cook" ready meals for pan frying are presented in these futuristic-looking, functional sleeved plastic pod packs designed by London-based Parker Williams Design. Clearly colour coded to identify each of the three cuisine "types" – "exotic", "classic" and "healthy", the sleeves are formed from AssiDomän's Frövi Light cartonboard, and UV flexo printed in eight colours plus varnish by Norfolk Labels, part of Paragon Print and Packaging Group.

The convenient perforated ziplock opening device was developed by Parker Williams and perfected on Norfolk Labels' digital CAD machine. Once opened, the sleeve inner reveals further vibrant colour images and information on the freshness of the range. The designers say the sleeve's "uncluttered graphics" and uncoated finish link back to Sainsbury's new corporate look developed by Lambie Nairn.
