Schur Flexibles Group strengthens Nordic position, acquires flexibles specialist Scandiflex Pac
02 Apr 2019 --- Flexible plastic packaging giant Schur Flexibles Group has acquired 100 percent of Sweden-based Scandiflex Pac AB, a prominent producer of printed flexible packaging laminates in the food industry. The group lauded the acquisition as integral to its rapid expansion efforts in Europe. In addition, the acquisition will help to bolster Schur Flexibles’ existing capabilities in the Nordic region in the sphere of flexo printing.
Schur Flexibles has a track record of acquiring and integrating renowned players in the European market, such as Schur Flexibles Uni and parts of the Clondalkin Group in 2018. The Group currently has a strong presence in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Greece and France.
Through combining Scandiflex Pac with Schur Flexibles Denmark, Schur Flexibles Finland and Danapak Flexibles, the Schur Flexibles Group has a platform with a turnover of more than €120 million (US$135 million) in the Nordic region. As a whole, Schur Flexibles currently generates sales of around €520 million (US$583 million) (pro forma).

Scandiflex Pac (now Schur Flexibles Scandiflex), in operation since 1985, has revenues of approximately €20 million (US$22 million) and is headquartered in Landskrona in Scania, southern Sweden. The company specializes in packaging for meat, fish, dairy, dry food products and coffee, as well as ready-made and frozen food.
With an integrated chain of added value, from print and laminating, to extensive bag and pouch making, Schur Flexibles, which was founded in 2012, is made up of 15 companies with 23 production plants in Western and Eastern Europe.
Overall, the move is touted by both parties as a push in the direction of Schur Flexibles Group becoming a full-service provider in the Nordics region. It will cover the complete converting and digital printing value chain.
