Sealed Air has developed the ProPad Mini, a compact cushioning system, part of its ProPad range. The device can create custom-length fanfold paper pads at high speed for the protection of lightweight, heavy, or small-sized products.
“The ProPad Mini is designed to be small in size and big on performance. It can create up to 36 meters of protective paper pads per minute, making it suitable for low to medium volume fulfillment lines,” says Eric Van Der Kallen, EMEA portfolio and marketing director at Sealed Air.
“It’s a versatile and quiet system that’s easy to set up and use. The ProPad Mini can be configured to run on a table, shelf, or floor, and a touchscreen human machine interface (HMI) enables operators to quickly adjust pad lengths in just a few touches,” he adds.
Operators can customize ProPad Mini’s system setup based on their requirements and workstation space. It offers six adjustable dispensing-head angles, a swing arm mount, a rolling or stationary mount, a shelf mount, and a foot pedal.
The device also features a magnetic connector that allows users to select where to attach the HMI touchscreen, on the system or stand.
“Space is often at a premium in fulfillment centers, and small pack stations can compromise ergonomics and productivity. ProPad Mini’s small footprint, multiple configurations, easy loading, and low maintenance are designed with operators in mind to make it user-friendly,” Van Der Kallen adds.
Improving operations
Last year, Sealed Air introduced the ProPad Horizontal, designed to save floor space by working directly over pallets. The system can create up to 95 custom-length fanfold pads per minute (for pads sized 30 cm) through automation that minimizes downtime.
The ProPad Mini is able to run one- or two-ply paper from FSC-certified and recycled fibers. The protective paper pads produced by the ProPad systems can be reused or curbside recycled, where the infrastructure is available.
“Packaging sustainability plays a big role in how consumers feel about a product,” says Van Der Kallen.
“It can elevate the unboxing experience, strengthen brand loyalty, and encourage repeat purchasing. Our ProPad systems help operators to seize these opportunities, while also meeting their goals to improve operational performance throughout fast-moving, high-density fulfillment centers.”
