SIG expands “next-generation” F&B packaging to Middle East and Africa
09 Nov 2022 --- SIG will unveil a new range of F&B solutions at the Gulfood Manufacturing 2022 trade show in Dubai, UAE as the products’ debut in Middle East and African markets. The line will be showcased at the Dubai Silicon Oasis, a technology park for manufacturers, retail customers and entrepreneurs to experience and deploy the items.
The updated line includes two aseptic carton variations, bag-in-box and spouted pouch solutions for retail, institutional and industrial applications. The company will utilize augmented reality to immerse viewers in the unveiling.
“SIG will be demonstrating at Gulfood Manufacturing unique solutions and leading-edge technology to bring customers in the region, whether they are looking for retail or industrial packaging,” says Abdelghany Eladib, president and general manager of Middle East and Africa at SIG.
“Our packaging solutions have been developed to meet the growing demand for mobile, healthy, comfortable and convenient consumer experiences. Our versatile, sustainable packaging solutions are always designed with resource reduction in mind.”
Product solutions
“It is crucial that product and package complement each other to reflect both product quality and brand values while offering active consumers the on-the-go convenience,” continues Eladib.
SIG CEO, Samuel Sigrist (right), met with WWF Switzerland CEO (left), Thomas Vellacott, to work together in environmentally managing and restoring forests globally. Fair Cape will introduce SIG’s uniquely shaped carton pack, dubbed combistyle, to give South African consumers a uniquely designed modern package. This is the first time SIG will reveal the design in the Middle East and African areas, with it previously introduced to the Americas in May.
While referring to its combistyle carton design, Eladib says, “our solutions help them stand out while making it easier for consumers to find what they need. Combistyle, for example, offers a stylish corner panel that provides a comfortable and safe grip while allowing brand owners to effectively communicate key messages with eye-catching designs.”
The “next generation” packaging line-up aims to “create new possibilities for differentiation, convenience, premiumization and flexibility.”
Environmental commitments
SIG and World Wildlife Fund Switzerland are building resilient forest ecosystems globally by expanding environmentally sustainable forest management, protection and landscape restoration. The partnership has been ongoing for five years working to improve forest management of 100,000 hectares and rehabilitating a further 750 hectares of forest.
Last month, SIG equipped Riedel’s juice products with its on-the-go combismile carton pack, and Toppan added PE monomaterial barrier packaging for liquid contents to its product range. A small number of polymers used are linked to certified forest-based renewable materials via a mass-balance system.
Meanwhile, the company is also launching “Recycle for Good” in Egypt – an initiative to collect used aseptic cartons with its partner Tagaddod.
Industry giant PepsiCo is focusing on the Middle East and North Africa regions. Nadeera, a United Arab Emirates-based startup, won PepsiCo’s first Greenhouse Accelerator Program, receiving US$100,000 last month.
