SupplySide West: Syntegon to showcase high-output capsule filling machine for supplements
14 Jul 2023 --- Packaging and processing solutions provider Syntegon is launching a high-output capsule filling machine in Europe and North America to meet the growing demand for high filling capacity in the supplement and nutraceutical industry.
According to the company, the GKF Capsylon 6005 can fill up to 360,000 capsules per hour, nearly doubling the output rate of its predecessor, the GKF Capsylon 3005.
“We are seeing growing interest in products like vitamins, proteins and other dietary supplements in the European and US markets,” says Andreas Nuessle, Syntegon’s product manager. “The GKF Capsylon 6005 combines a significantly higher output rate with the flexibility of the range to fill powders, pellets, granules and special products.”
“This [flexibility] makes it suitable for a particularly wide range of applications.”
Double dose of dosing stations
One of the machine’s main features is the inclusion of two separate dosing stations. Syntegon reveals that the additional dosing station is the reason for the strong increase in production capacity.
“The GKF Capsylon 6005 also features two dosing stations operating in parallel,” Nuessle underscores.
Syntegon says that its patented slide-gate technology further enhances the performance of the new platform. The technology works by covering the segment bores from below during the filling process, which the company says results in higher product yield, improved filling accuracy and reduction of dust during operation.
Moreover, the slide-gate technology adds a layer of versatility to the machine, allowing it to handle various forms of granules, pellets and powders on the same dosing station.
“This allows us to fill a larger number of capsule segments evenly without losing time,” adds Nuessle.
Reducing downtime
Another key feature of the filling machine is the ability to perform format part changeovers seamlessly and without the need for manual readjustments. Utilizing the company’s click system, operators can perform quick format changes, save time and process a wide range of different products on the same machine.
Moreover, it allows manufacturers to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. The company further adds that the “intuitive” changeover process makes it easy to learn and operate with minimal effort.
The company will exhibit the GKF Capsylon 6005 and its capabilities at the upcoming SupplySide West event in Las Vegas, US, between October 23-27.
