Videojet unveils digital label applicator for automated production lines

The Videojet 9310 applies labels from 0.4 to 4.3 inches (10 to 110 mm) wide and 0.4 to 19.7 inches (10 to 500 mm) long. It aims to help food, personal care, and pharmaceutical brands “label consistently with minimal manual intervention.”
“Unlike labels that rely on mechanically complex components, such as clutches and brakes, which often require ongoing adjustments and operator attention, the Videojet 9310 takes a different approach,” says the company. “Its digitally controlled design helps support more predictable results over time.”
The core of Videojet’s digital label applicator is its Videojet Intelligent Motion technology, a motor-driven system that automatically manages label web tension, alignment, and movement.
The motor adapts to real-time conditions such as diameter, line speed, and label format. According to Videojet, this results in more consistent label placement, with less time spent making adjustments.
Last month, Avery Dennison launched the Pathfinder Edge, a handheld label printer that enables faster operator labeling times. Its AW5301K also offers the East Asian market a specialized solution that prevents label edge lifting caused by humidity during the regional rainy season.
Streamlined labeling processes
The label applier also offers other intelligent features, outlines Videojet, such as an unwind and rewind feature, drive control, and automatic label gap detection. These features can help reduce web breaks, misapplied labels, and unnecessary waste, says the company.

It also works on different production line setups, machine configurations, and application requirements. Optional remote service capabilities can provide alerts and secure remote diagnostics to help teams respond faster, though this is subject to regional availability.
