Vittel and Aquarel European brands to adopt the new Thumb Up; flip top closure from Bericap !

On this mature market segment, the nomadic way of consuming water developed towards younger consumers with a more portable bottle size, the 33cl PET bottle. AQUAREL was then globally launched in European countries. In 2005, VITTEL water brand launches its new VITALITOS water range in 33cl bottle using the THUMB’UP®. AQUAREL also chooses the THUMB’UP® to replace the Push Pull. Due to the younger age of consumers, NESTLE WATERS has indeed requested a new closure system, more consumer friendly and with higher security for the users. BERICAP has developed the THUMB’UP® concept with these new specifications. The THUMB’UP® is made of two pieces injected parts, securely on-line assembled in BERICAP France clean room conditions. The hinge between the overcap and the base does not break even after several elongations and twists. Its unique design allows a wide distance, when opened, between the overcap and the pourer for an optimal drinking consumer comfort. The tamper system, trough a frontal tear off band, is obvious after the first opening. The two-component design of the closure allows a possible combination of colours with a higher marketing impact than one-piece closures from the market. The overcap polypropylene resin is translucent then recalling the purity of the water product; the resins used on each part of the THUMB’UP® are taintless for water. The high tightness performances of the THUMB’UP make the bottles using such closure adapted to modern and long logistics circuits. The THUMB’UP® range is covering a wide variety of bottleneck designs from 26.7 mm, 28 mm, 30 mm and 38 mm. This closure is adapted to aseptic filling systems using on line chemical treatment of the closures thus avoiding the irradiation process that is an expensive and complex process. The use of THUMB’UP® closure in such applications does not require the use of an aluminium foil.
