Beverage can maker Ball Packaging Europe and fruit wine maker EB-Secco jointly present a new wine treat for young consumers at ProWein in Düsseldorf from 4 to 6 March.
Filling wine in beverage cans opens new markets to winegrowers: The target group are the 20 to 39-year-old consumers, who are not traditional wine drinkers, but like to taste new premium products which are both innovative and sustainable and have a persuasive taste.
Small portions served conveniently EB-Secco offers fruit and sparkling wines such as cherry or currant Secco – a segment attractive in particular for young, unconventional wine drinkers. EB-Secco owners Carlo Bermes and Jörg Eppelmann are winegrowers and exhibit their own wines at ProWein, and some of them in the beverage cans from Ball specifically developed for wine. Moreover, the company offers winegrowers who wish to reach new target groups to fill wine in cans even in small quantities (from 500 cans).
The perfect combination Wine reacts extremely sensitively to oxygen. And that is why the wine can with the "Protected Quality" seal developed by Ball is the ideal package, since it is absolutely lightproof and gastight. To avoid undesired reactions between wine and metal, Ball has moreover developed a special inside lacquer. The small size of the aluminium Slim Can (187/200ml and 250 ml) makes it the perfect away-from-home companion and it is ideal for single households and hotel minibars.
Its unbreakability and its low weight make the beverage can particularly efficient during transportation and storage. Thus, the “miniature wine barrels” are a convenient packaging solution especially for airlines, catering in trains and on passenger ships – and last but not least for the worldwide export of wine. Filling wine in beverage cans has also ecological benefits, as metal containers are completely and infinitely recyclable. And: wine from cans will never be corked!
