New wool-based packaging, designed to keep chilled food products below five degrees, has been launched by AMA Consultants.
“Wool fibres have overlapping scales and absorb water molecules forming a very effective insulation,” according to designer Angela Morris of packaging specialists AMA Consultants.
Woolboxes, lined with wool, are made from recycled corrugated cardboard.
The company supplies three products: Woolcool courier; for the transport of perishable foods, Woolcool economy; a traditional box design and Woolcool bespoke tailored to clients’ individual specifications.
The boxes, which are also suitable for the distribution of frozen foods, can be printed in one, two or four colours.
