Zip-Pak DoubleZip Enhances Dubliner Cheese Packaging with Added Seal Security
Implementing resealable flexible packaging on the Dubliner brand also enhances sustainability by improving package utility compared to rigid alternatives and helping to prevent food waste.
18 Nov 2010 --- Carbery has been producing high quality cheeses in Co Cork, Ireland’s dairy heartland, for nearly 40 years. The company produces a variety of different cheeses for retail, food manufacturing and food service applications, including its flagship brand – Dubliner. An award-winning Irish cheese, Dubliner represents Carbery’s commitment to quality products.
Recently, the company decided to implement a resealable closure on the Dubliner brand to reinforce its premium nature. Carbery chose the Zip-Pak DoubleZip because of its added seal security and ease of use.
“The DoubleZip press-to-close solution gives consumers confidence that the package is completely closed after each use,” said Alan Smith, Area Sales Manager at Zip-Pak Europe. “The packages are also easy to open and close for all consumers, and since packaging represents the first interaction with Dubliner, it enhances their experience with the brand.”
DoubleZip is one of the most recent additions to the Zip-Pak Press-to-Close family of products. The resealable closure features two sets of interlocking profiles strategically spaced to guide consumers’ fingers along a path, ensuring complete bag closure after every use.
“Our focus group research indicates that consumers overwhelmingly prefer DoubleZip to single-profile solutions,” said Elizabeth Sheaffer, Marketing Manager at Zip-Pak. “Especially for oxygen-sensitive products like cheese and meat, the dual profiles promote freshness by locking out air and environmental contaminants.”
Implementing resealable flexible packaging on the Dubliner brand also enhances sustainability by improving package utility compared to rigid alternatives and helping to prevent food waste. Resealable flexible packaging improves the product-to-package ratio, reducing the amount of packaging waste. Additionally, the DoubleZip helps to keep products fresh throughout the last use, meaning consumers can use the entire contents of the package rather than discarding unused portions.
The Zip-Pak DoubleZip can run on virtually all horizontal (HFFS) and vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machinery with minor modifications needed on existing machinery.
The new Dubliner packages are manufactured by Bandon Vale, a co-packer also located in Ireland.
