Printing bar code and description labels ‘on the move’ is now possible with two new lightweight portable electronic label printers from SATO UK. The SATO MB series is ideal for the growing range of portable data applications, from bin and location identification in warehouses to receipt printing in delivery and distribution systems. The smaller machine, the SATO MB200 weighs 430g including the battery and can be clipped to a belt. It prints on an area up to 48mm wide by 160mm long on labels up to 58mm wide and 163mm long. The larger MB400, weighing just 860g can be carried on the shoulder. This machine will print on an area up to 104mm wide and 297mm long on labels up to 114mm wide and 300 mm long. Both models print standard or two dimensional bar codes, numbers or text using direct thermal technology in one or two colours to a resolution of 203dpi (8 dots/mm). To increase their flexibility, SATO has built in a choice of connectivity possibilities. These include RS232 (on MB200) and Palm OS compatibility on both models, so that data can be sent to them with a hand-held device. An optional RF connection is also available. All ancillaries, accessories and consumables are supplied by SATO including batteries, battery chargers, A/C adapters, a weatherproof case for the MB200, and self-adhesive labels. The company also offers operator training and after sales support and service.
