Aicomp Summit 2026: Aicomp spotlights product configuration solutions

19 Mar 2026 | Aicomp

Nacho Balbontín, global head of sales at Aicomp, told us about the company’s product configuration solutions — VCPowerPack, which enables packaging personalization, and Cubicus, designed for companies seeking enterprise resource planning system integration.

Hi, from the 2026 ICO summit, I'm speaking to Nacho Baubontin, who is the global head of sales at ICO.

Thanks for being with us.

Thank you.

So how are you finding the show so far?

I think it's very interesting to see an event where we have so many partners that is, providing all the solutions the packaging industry needs, but also so many customers, so many prospects.

They are doing networking.

They are speaking to each other, exchanging experiences, and I think it's very.

Productive for for everyone here.

And can you tell us about ICO's VC Power Pack and how it serves the packaging industry?

Of course we all know that is the number one of the world.

So with our VC Power Pack, what we do is we enhance with our standard.

Power Pack so that it also becomes the number one for the packaging industry.

So what we provide is a product configurator.

This product configurator is giving all the information, processes, and logics needed for the packaging industry.

But also is determining what is the best bill of materials, the best routing, estimating, therefore the cost and the pricing, and creating all the master data that is needed, then enhancing SCP so that it is also tailored for this industry, which is the packaging industry.

So I understand that VC Power Pack can be used both for paper and flexible plastic packaging.

So can you tell us a bit about the differences and similarities between how it serves these two materials?

Yes, so.

Within the packaging industry there are many divisions, as you said, paper, flexibles, there is also folding carton.

There is corrugated, honeycomb, metal, many of them.

What all of them have in common and also paper and flexibles is this industry, they work with very tight margins.

They work mainly on volume, so then what they need is a product configurator that is helping them estimate with accuracy, with precision what are the bill of materials, the routing, the costs, and so on.

Therefore, with these two divisions that you expressed like paper and flexibles, we have a similar structure in our product configurator, so everything starts with the input.

In one case, the input might be pulp.

In the other case, the input might be a recipe, but then it's excluded into a film.

Then you can have conversion.

You can have slitting.

You can have printing.

You can have many conversions and then you might have a shipping unitization.

So the structure is very similar.

It's just the difference, the logics or the input or the data that is required, but what they have in common again is the same challenges.

But of course then the process or the differences in the logics and in the data is what makes them different.

Great.

And one more question about the VCP power pack.

Can you in simple words explain what are the main improvements in this 0303 and 0304 updates?

Of course, actually one of them is paper.

Until now we had flexible packaging.

We had a folding carton.

We have corrugated, but the new thing that we incorporated is the division of paper.

So that is in.

303 included.

We also have included now for all VC Power Pack our IQCatalyst, which is our machine learning product.

So now that it is embedded in VC Power Pack since the 303 as.

We also now provide the solution for MStock, so we also capture all the information and create the master data that is needed for MStock.

One other functionality that we have is that now we can also do the shipping unitizing role base.

So therefore we can also do shipping unitization for the flexible packaging, for the paper packaging, and many other things that we have included during these past two years.

And we are working right now on the 305, so we are in full swing with our next release.

Great.

And can you also tell us about the cubicles?

Of course, many manufacturers of packaging.

They want to do a digital roadmap or a digital transformation.

And of course we all know that ACP is the number one ERP in the world for that, but also that comes with a cost.

So for some of them they cannot afford either the cost or the maintenance or the IT that is required for that.

And what they prefer is to go to a more clean core approach, which you can also do with public cloud of ICP, but you can also do with several software as a service components like now.

Cubicus.

Qubicuss is a software as a service.

It's then fulfilling the requirements of the Clean Core and it's also more affordable and also more easier to maintain for these industries or these companies in the packaging industry that might not have the money or may not have the resources to maintain a big ERP but they need something that is more simpler.

Makes sense, but can you tell us a bit more about the operational challenges in packaging plants and the industry broadly that it helps solve?

Yes, so aside from the IT benefits that I just mentioned of Cleancore or software as a service, if we are speaking about what it addresses for the challenges of the industry.

So with Cubiccus, one of the things is because it's cloud-based, it's very user friendly, so therefore all the users can play with it.

They also see many diagrams of what is going to look like the product that they are configuring, which is also very nice, and that is working in real time.

So when they are putting the dimensions, the positions, the standard product style, etc.

They will see how it is being the design preparing.

They can also address multiple plants, so it's coming from simple products to difficult configurations with multiple plants with multiple production versions, and all of that is included in the cubicus.

They can work with it standalone, so that means they can also do the or the configure price quotation as a standalone product with cubicus, so that will.

Lead them to know what is the right pricing, the right costing, the customer master data for Ship Sol, but they can also integrate it with whichever they are using so that they can continue their progress or the process that is.

So that's I would say the main benefits of Cubbicu.

Great.

Is there anything else that you would like to highlight?

If you are interested in knowing more or in joining our next event or in getting to know any of our products in a demo that is dedicated for you, you know where to find us.

And also, if you are interested in knowing how we partner up with everyone else that is providing solutions to the packaging industry, we can of course always put you in contact with our partners so that you get the whole solution end to end provided as we are not only BC Power Packcocubicus provider, but we are also the experts of the packaging industry.

We configure your vision.
