IFFA 2025 live: Sealpac launches F-series thermoformer for plastic reduction and recyclability
07 May 2025 | Sealpac International
At IFFA 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany, Sealpac International showcases its new F-series thermoformer. The packaging machine can handle all flexible and rigid film applications and offers control software for in-line connectivity. Marcel Veenstra, marketing & communications manager, tells us how the company’s solutions support environmental sustainability and enhance food presentation.
Pack insights from IA 2025 in Frankfurt, and we're here at the Sepak International stand with Marcel Weinstra, who is the marketing and communications manager.
Welcome to you.
Thank you.
So my first question is, what key products highlights are you showcasing at this year's event?
First of all, welcome to Sylpack.
Welcome to the packaging experts, as we call ourselves.
For the very first time this year, we are presenting packaging equipment, all made in Germany.
So next to our famous trace sealer, both fully automated and semi-automatic, for the very first time here today, we are launching the F Series thermoformer, which we think we know will be a game changer in the industry.
What would you say are some of the major market trends you're looking to tap into with these solutions?
The good thing is that by making these machines all in the same spot, we're using the same building philosophy and we're also building on the same platform.
And one of the main trends at the moment is automation and digitalization, and all these machines are now very easy to connect through a universal language called OPCUA.
And they can actually talk with other equipment and they can also be integrated into factory software, so people that are trying to optimize the efficiency in the factory can easily use that software to get the most out of the machines that we're presenting here today.
Sustainability is a big concern for customers and for.
Consumers increasingly so in what ways do your products support the circular economy and also climate change mitigation, so carbon reduction?
There are two levels here.
So there's the packaging side.
Now we do the packaging equipment.
We are not on the material side, but we do try to support our customers in becoming more sustainable.
This is also seen in the logos on the sand sustainable.
And this is about reducing plastics, replacing plastics with more recyclable paper, for example, or also use mono materials instead of layers to have more recyclable plastic.
But that's on the material side.
If we look at the machinery, we're also trying to reduce CO2 footprint and everything.
For example, on the trayshiers, we have something called Energy Manager.
This is a module that, first of all, any energy that comes from the friction when the machine is running is stored to be used like a hybrid car.
And the other thing is that the machine, if for example, the feed of the trays with the product stops, it automatically will decrease the speed of the infeed conveyor.
And if it takes too long, it will actually stop running the EV conveyor to save on energy.
So we see this as thinking machines that help in this matter.
That's interesting.
And in terms of your end packaging for consumers, in what ways does this enhance food presentation?
It's a big concern for meat and.
Alternative producers, this is always important.
So whatever packaging we talk about, it needs to stand out on the shelves at retail.
So depending on what kind of packaging concept we are running on with this customer, we are talking about the seal, the peel, the easy open.
And in any project, we try to advise in all of these matters to to get the best possible pack with the most convenience possible for the consumer.
OK, that's the final question.
What's your core focuses looking forward in terms of product development, innovation, R&D?
I said we are launching a UDF series Thermoformer.
I assume that in the future we will see more other lines coming in that area.
And also one of the taglines we are using here is hashtag #seeing the future, futureproof equipment.
That's what we're trying to sell here and it means that customers know that when they buy a super machine, they can run all of today's potential concepts, but even ones that we haven't thought of today.
And so this world future for us is very important.
It means Easy to change to different packaging formats and also the way we build the machines.
They are so durable.
They go on for decades and decades.
So that's the philosophy that we're going to build on also in the future.
Thanks for your time today.
Thank you.
