Europe’s leading multi-material food packaging company, LINPAC Packaging, has launched a trio of premium films for the protein industry as part of its Fresh Thinking innovation strategy.
The LINtop Star lidding films, for use in MAP applications, signal a new generation of high-barrier shrink lidding films from the company. They have been designed to work with LINPAC’s own LINfresh EPS MAP and Rfresh/Fresh PET/PE trays, as well as all standard high-barrier EPS and rigid trays.
The films, which are all manufactured LINPAC Packaging’s site in Pontivy, France, are available with either a PE or PP sealant. Their excellent oxygen barrier properties extends product shelf life, helping both retailers and consumers reduce food waste and spoilage – an increasing concern across the marketplace as food prices rise.
“Our Fresh Thinking innovation strategy is about ensuring that LINPAC Packaging is developing products that our customers and their customers demand – offering them a wider choice of packaging solutions for different applications”, explains Erwan Cadoret, Product Manager Barrier Films, at LINPAC Packaging. “The launch of these films marks a step forward in the manufacture and supply of a new generation of thin high-barrier lidding films, in line with current market trends.”
The LINtop Star HB range – comprising LINtop Star PE HB, LINtop Star PE CXI and LINtop Star PE CXO – has a thinner gauge and has been designed with outstanding optics, controlled shrink and superior anti-fog properties – giving high quality product presentation and protection for greater retailer appeal.
The longer reels, which result in 33% less machine downtime and higher machine throughputs, will be an attractive feature of the new films for packers. They have been designed to work with existing manual and high speed automatic tray sealers, from small to fully equipped thermoforming lines, and will seal through contamination to ensure a safe and secure pack.
