A new ink system has been designed to boost the productivity of high-speed presses during multiple color runs and in-line die-cutting of high-hold-out corrugated stock. Specifically for the medium- to high-end graphics postprint market, the UltraCorre system offers fast drying with high color strength, gloss and rub resistance on highly unabsorbent substrates, the co. says. The water-based system uses a unique form of pH shifting resin structures instead of absorption for quick drying. The co. also reports that the system offers excellent ink laydown and no-smear coverage during subsequent operations. Efficient re-wetting of the material helps eliminate printing voids.
