- Amcor has launched a new, lighter UniPak 1 kg pot, reducing carbon emissions by up to 9%.
- The fully recyclable PP pot is said to retain robustness and support sustainability goals.
- Enhanced tamper-evidence and improved handling make it ideal for dairy packaging.

Amcor has released an updated version of its UniPak 1 kg pot for the dairy market. The upgraded solution uses less material but is said to retain its performance, robustness, and line compatibility.
The yogurt pot and lid have a combined weight of 31.6 g, delivering up to a 9% reduction in carbon emissions, according to Amcor. It is also made entirely of PP and is recyclable, where the infrastructure is in place.
Katrina Burrett, product line director, containers and reusables, Amcor Global Rigids Packaging Solutions, says: “The dairy sector is continuing to grow with, in particular, a strong showing in larger yogurt formats.”
“For dairy packaging, the 1 kg size is especially popular, and our new UniPak has been designed to enable brand owners to maximize opportunities with a high-performance solution that also supports their sustainability objectives.”
Amcor explains that UniPak, despite its lighter weight, retains its robustness to provide product protection throughout the supply chain. Moreover, its compact dimensions allow easy handling in the home.
The yogurt container also has a molded liquid-tight lid, which offers top-load strength and remains fastened to the pot. Improved tamper-evidence aims to enhance product security.
“This new pack demonstrates that meaningful lightweighting doesn’t have to come at the expense of strength or performance — and that’s exactly what our customers are asking for,” says Burrett.
Recently, Amcor unveiled a consumer insight report exploring how EU shoppers perceive the use of post-consumer recycled content in packaging for supermarket products.
Lucie Charbonnel, sustainability director at Amcor, told Packaging Insights: “Consumers understand recycled material, and respond very positively to it.”
Dairy developments
Recent dairy solutions have included reduced plastic content, recycling readiness, and carton-based solutions.
Burrett told us: “The shift into monomaterials is front and center when looking at the transition of the full packs (pot and lidding) to support recycle-readiness as well as regulatory alignment.”
Earlier this year, Sidel provided Britannia, an Indian F&B company, with its first aseptic PET bottles for its Winkin’ Cow dairy drink portfolio. Meanwhile, DuPont unveiled the FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF element, an advanced mesh-wrapped reverse osmosis solution developed for dairy processors seeking greater active area and higher productivity.
