Aptar Closures has introduced a suite of closures to support beauty, personal care, and home care brands in meeting the increasing demands of e-commerce packaging. The solution is engineered to protect products throughout the online fulfillment journey.
The portfolio combines four solutions: Embrace, E-Simplicity, Future Disc Top, and E-Disc Top. The innovations aim to enhance product protection in transit, support brands’ sustainability goals, and improve consumer experience.
Maria Vázquez-Ricote, market leader beauty, personal care, and home care at Aptar Closures, says: “Today’s packaging must perform across every stage of the journey, from manufacturing and fulfillment to delivery and consumer use. E-commerce has fundamentally changed how packaging must function.”
“Brands are looking for solutions that reduce excess packaging waste, simplify packaging and perform reliably in transit, while also delivering a flawless, social media-proof unboxing experience for consumers, and this portfolio is designed to address those needs.”
Aptar’s portfolio integrates protective functionality into the closure designs. Each closure has passed Amazon ISTA-6 robustness testing, and all are available in post-consumer recycled (PCR) versions.
Transit-ready protection
Embrace is an e-commerce capable flip top closure that is ISTA-6 qualified. The solution features non-visible protective technologies developed to “withstand demanding shipping conditions.” Embrace is also designed to help protect against side impacts, accidental openings, and leakage during transit.
The solution is available with different aesthetic options, including frost and glossy finishes as well as custom logo capabilities.
E-Simplicity is a closure that features a visible breakable, non-detachable tear band and a back-off resistant thread. The solution aims to strengthen protection while providing consumers with clear first-opening evidence.
The solution is said to eliminate the need for liners, shrink bands, and other packaging components, reducing overall packaging material requirements. Aptar says its design makes it “well-suited for home care applications distributed through e-commerce channels.”
Future Disc Top is a disc top closure created to deliver e-commerce security while elevating consumer experience. The closure is made entirely from PE and is compatible with recycling streams when paired with PE or PET bottles.
Its locking ring is said to provide a secure lock/unlock with a clear visual indication of the closure status, offering intuitive, on-the-go usability.
E-Disc Top is a closure that features an integrated concealed mechanism that keeps products secure during transit. Following initial opening, E-Disc Top operates like a standard disc top. The closure removes liners, shrink bands, and other secondary packaging components, reducing unneeded material requirements and improving supply chain efficiency.
Earlier this year, Aptar Beauty spoke to Packaging Insights about its premium dispensing solutions. This April, the company launched the aerosol Double Click dispensing system for enhanced user inclusivity and e-commerce reliability in personal care applications.
Meanwhile, the company also equipped Clarins with a two-in-one dispensing bottle for the cosmetics company’s latest Double Serum Foundation. In the bottle, a thin wall separates two chambers, with a ratio of 70% of color cosmetics and 30% hydric system. The products stay separate until application.
