Tetra Pak has broken new ground in North America by entering the infant formula category for the first time. In the latest of a number of recent conversions in its nutritional segment, Nestlé is switching its Gerber Good Start infant formulas from cans toTetra Brik Aseptic 375ml and Tetra Prisma Aseptic 250ml packages.
Nestlé will also convert institutional healthcare nutrition products from cans to cartons in the next 24 months.
“This is a great success for our entire team, Technical Services group, Supply Chain, and Marketing and Communications who worked diligently with Nestlé to make this project a success,” said Alina Cojocariu, Sales Manager, Nestlé Key Account management team. “Nestlé clearly realises the benefits and safety of cartons in the nutrition category.”
“The win has the dual benefit of supporting our North America goal of developing value-added milk and portion packs, and the global goal of building our nutrition business though the infant segment,” added Alina.
“We have forged a strong relationship with Nestlé, and are excited they have selected our Tetra Pak A3/CompactFlex platform for their production needs, said Janice Palmer, Key Account Director for Nestlé.
Nestlé has built a new manufacturing facility in Wisconsin to provide the capacity needed for this exciting project. The new facility was built with growth in mind, and we are looking forward to deploying more of our packaging portfolio, and adding functionality to meet Nestle’s consumer needs.”
