Boxed bag systems to feature in ALL4Pack Paris DS Smith Plastics booth
16 Nov 2018 --- An array of boxed bag systems will feature at the DS Smith Plastics Europe booth at All4Pack in Paris, from the 26-29 November. Boxed Bags have proven popular as they can offer a long shelf life to products while keeping liquids safe and preserving taste, the company describes. They also provide sustainability benefits as they can be flattened after use, therefore saving space in transportation.
Part of DS Smith Plastics and manufacturer of bags, fitments and filling machines for boxed bags, Rapak, is expanding into markets such as beverages, dairy, liquid egg and oil and chemicals. Rapa will showcase its latest innovations at the booth, such as the active scavenger bag for extra-long wine shelf life and the ultra-resistant monolayer bag that preserves the superior appearance of hot-filled juice products.
Earlier this year, Rapak collaborated with NWB, a Finnish start-up to deliver a new bag-in-box packaging design for beverage products coined Bag-in-Box 2.0. The new concept builds on the Bag-in-Box principle and consists of 3 parts: an outer cardboard box, a flexible bag and a dispenser. The box protects the product from direct sunlight and saves up to 90 percent in waste transportation compared to plastic bottles as it is flattened after use.
Regarding dispensing solutions, Worldwide Dispensers shall exhibit solutions for boxed bags, stand-up pouches, drums, barrels, butts, jerry cans and cubitainers at the show. Its portfolio includes aseptic glands, lever taps, pouring and snap caps, connecting systems and tubes as well as custom designed options. The company will present its latest dispensing solutions for Boxed Bags, such as Mustang tap with superior oxygen barrier (OTR) and a new version of the popular VINIflow tap for highly viscous products at the DS Smith booth.
Boxed bag solutions are often touted for their sustainable qualities, such as the recent announcement from Procter & Gamble (P&G), regarding its new fully recyclable e-commerce liquid laundry detergent pack. The compact and light Tide Eco-Box is a bag-in-box design which contains 60 percent less plastic compared to the current 150 oz Tide press-tap. Significantly, the Tide Eco-Box does not require any secondary packaging or bubble wrap, enhancing its credentials further as an eco-conscious e-commerce solution.
