DSM promises longer life for components made from new food-contact resin

The new vinyl ester resin - Atlac 5200 FC - has been developed specifically for composite applications that have contact with food and water.
Typical applications for the new resin include piping and storage vessels in food processing factories. Other important applications are found in water transport networks, water treatment installations and desalination plants.
Longer component life
DSM claims that components based on the new Atlac 5200 FC resins outperform components made from steel in terms of corrosion resistance and chemical resistance.
The Dutch life sciences company said this increases component life time. For plant operators, it claims that the benefits are therefore continued operability, reduced maintenance, and ultimately low cost of ownership.
Atlac 5200 FC is fully compliant with the European regulations on food contact and made in line with commonly accepted Good Manufacturing Practices for the Food Industry. DSM claims it is one of the first resins to be produced in accordance with GMP for products that come in contact with food.
All the ingredients used in the manufacture of Atlac 5200 FC resin are certified to be compliant with the EU’s food contact materials “positive list”. DSM said this will make it easier for customers to obtain approval for the final components manufactured from Atlac 5200 FC resin.
