A FILLING system for liquid food products containing particulates has been developed by Tetra Pak, of Uxbridge, for its Tetra Rex TR/7 gable top cartoning system. Capable of handling particulates up to 15mm in general, and up to 20mm or larger depending on consistency, the filling valve features a knife-like cutting action that ensures a clean start and finish to each filling operation. In addition, a variable speed paddle agitator in the heat-controlled filling tank keeps the particulates in suspension prior to filling - maintaining an even dispersion of particulates to each filled package. Suited to hot or cold-filled products, the system provides an opportunity for relaunches of foods traditionally packed in cans or jars.
