AN INNOVATIVE case packing system from Cermex has been designed to cater for order picking requirements containing various shaped products without the need for transit loose void filling. Dubbed the Blocpack, the system allows users to choose the shape and dimensions of its outer case, such as American cases (RSC), half American, and trays. Operating at up to 15 cases/minute, the first stage of operation is the case infeed where cases are identified according to their nature and dimensions - triggering automatic adjustment to case height and cross-section. Next a length of shrink film, appropriate for the case size and products, is lowered into the case and attached to the base on a pre-glued area. Picked product bundles are then placed into the folds of the film before the case enters a shrink tunnel which allows the shrunk film to hold the contents firmly in place. The completed case is finally lidded and sealed ready for dispatch.
