LogiMAT 2022: Hugo Beck to display e-commerce machinery for logistics growth
06 May 2022 --- Machine packaging specialist Hugo Beck will be showcasing its film and paper solutions for e-commerce to visitors at LogiMAT 2022 (May 31 - June 2), Europe’s biggest intralogistics exhibition.
Two innovative machines from the company’s range will be displayed on Stand F47 in Hall 4. Together, the machines represent the company’s strengths in meeting customer demands for effective e-commerce packaging solutions in various paper and film types – while minimizing material usage for an efficient and sustainable fit.
“We know how important [environmental] sustainability is to customers, while demand in e-commerce, mail order, and logistics continues to grow,” says Timo Kollmann, Hugo Beck’s managing director.
“We’re delighted to see visitors at LogiMAT face-to-face – after the digital-only edition in 2021 – to help them find the right machine to optimize the efficiency of their packaging operations and thereby save on resources.”
E-commerce machinery
The paper e-com fit paper packaging machine is designed for e-commerce and mail order applications using minimal material to package goods. The machine is suitable for the direct dispatch of individual goods, packing groups of products, or meeting the complex requirements of returned goods packaging.
Both uncoated and coated recyclable papers can be used for producing precisely fitting paper bags with two sewn sides plus a top overlap. Visitors at the show can see a live demo using uncoated brown 115 g/m2 Kraft Liner paper from DS Smith. Timo Kollmann, managing director at Hugo Beck.
Each bag size is automatically adapted to the varying product dimensions in length and width – and because the paper e-com fit stores paper rolls of two different widths, it reduces paper consumption.
Reducing film
The second machine on the Hugo Beck stand provides the ideal solution for applications where film is required or preferred. The servo X e-com fit packs goods with minimum use of film and automatically adjusts the film bags with four sealed sides to the product’s length and width.
At the show, Verpalin film containing 80% post-consumer recycled material, provided by the supplier Verpa Folie Weidhausen, will be used to produce environmentally sustainable shipping bags.
Representatives from Hugo Beck will be available to discuss customer needs, including its increasingly diverse automation solutions and the enormous potential that this technology offers in sectors such as contract packing.
For example, within a matter of minutes, packaging machines and robot solutions can be automatically adjusted to cope with new products, processing a wealth of external orders efficiently and error-free.
In 2020, PackagingInsights spoke with Kollmann, who discussed the company’s machinery innovations during the COVID-19 e-commerce boom. Kollmann described how tailoring technology to customer demands for both plastic and paper is essential and how speed and flexibility are key requirements during these uncertain times.
